As Co-CEO and Chief Investment Officer, Kevin formulates the investment strategy for Curran Investment Management. Before joining Curran in 2002, Kevin was an Equities Research Special Situations Associate at Deutsche Bank.
In this role, Kevin initiated research coverage on companies and modeled and performed stock valuations. Kevin began his career at Lord, Abbett & Company as a Retirement Planning Specialist, where he consulted with investment advisors on the implementation of ERISA retirement plans and IRA asset allocation strategies. He gained valuable experience at Salomon Brothers Asset Management in marketing and client service before working as an equity research associate at Deutsche Bank.
A graduate of Lafayette College with a degree in Government and Law, Kevin obtained a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance at New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute. Outside of work Kevin enjoys spending time on the Hudson River with his family and their corgi.
As Vice President of Private Wealth Management, Derek is dedicated to providing clients with financial solutions designed to generate wealth, maximize the value of their assets and enhance their quality of life.
With a priority of providing the highest level of service and attention, Derek attends to client matters relating to investments, retirement, insurance, tax planning, estate planning and other areas pertinent to the financial well-being of our clients.
Derek arrived at Curran Wealth Management in 2016 already with an extensive experience in the financial industry. Prior to Curran Wealth Management, Derek worked for The Ayco Company, L.P., A Goldman Sachs Company in Albany, NY from 2007 until 2016 as a Senior Financial Planner. At Ayco, his primary role was to provide comprehensive financial planning and implement suitable investment and insurance solutions to a client base consisting of executives of various fortune 500 companies.
Prior to Ayco, Derek first began his financial services career in 2004 with The Phoenix Companies in East Greenbush, NY, where he serviced clients with a variety of life insurance and wealth management products. Derek has obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification from the CFP Board of Standards. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Oneonta, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics. Additionally, Derek is a General Securities Representative with Series 7, Series 66, and Series 6 licenses and also possesses his Life, Accident & Health Insurance license from New York State.
Although born in North Carolina, Derek moved with his family to New York and has resided in the Capital District since early childhood. Away from business, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. Additionally, Derek volunteers his time to enhance his profession as an active member of the board of directors for the Northeastern New York chapter of the Financial Planning Association.
Alexis Meeks joined Hippo Tax Services in 2019 as Tax Manager. Alexis is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 20 years of accounting experience.
As Tax Manager, Alexis provides income tax planning, preparation, and aid in compliance with income tax laws for clients of Hippo Tax Services. Alexis also works with current and prospective clients of Curran Wealth Management to provide them with strategic advice geared towards understanding their entire financial wellbeing. This includes creating a tax plan by analyzing how their daily transactions drives their year-end results and overall performance.
Prior to joining Curran, Alexis was a senior manager at a local CPA firm. She assisted individuals and businesses with varying tax needs. She provided them with tax planning, tax preparation, financial statement preparation and overall business development and management strategies.
Alexis is a graduate of the State University of New York College at Oneonta with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, and received her Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from Union College.
As a Private Wealth Manager since joining Curran Wealth Management in 2020, Andrew works with our team of professionals to deliver comprehensive wealth management solutions and provide our clients with the highest level of service and attention.
As a graduate of State University of New York at Oswego, Andrew began his career at Ayco, a Goldman Sachs Company, in 2014. As a Senior Financial Analyst/Senior Team Leader, Andrew was responsible for providing comprehensive financial planning and investment solutions to a myriad of employees and executives from several fortune 500 companies. Andrew's experience includes, but is not limited to investment management, insurance analysis, retirement planning, education planning, budgeting, taxation, and estate planning.
Andrew earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting at the State University of New York at Oswego and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Management from the State University of New York at Albany. Additionally, Andrew is a General Securities Representative with Series 7, SIE, and Series 66 licenses.
Outside of business, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and family exploring the outdoors. One of his passions includes swimming, as he competed from high school throughout his college career.
As a Senior Private Wealth Manager and a member of the Curran Wealth Management team for over 10 years, Emily provides a passionate focus to every aspect of the financial planning process.
With an emphasis on quality service and attention, Emily is dedicated to developing a complete understanding of the unique goals and objectives of each client before providing thoughtful comprehensive wealth management solutions. Emily provides guidance and assistance on matters pertaining to investments, retirement planning, tax planning, estate planning, and insurance.
Emily has obtained her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification from the CFP Board of Standards. A graduate of the State University of New York at Cortland, she began her career in 2006 as the Associate Investment Analyst for the American University in Cairo. Working closely with the Chief Investment Officer and Board of Trustees, Emily was responsible for monitoring the University’s endowment and aiding in the research and analysis of new investment opportunities.
Originally from Queens, NY, Emily relocated to the Albany area in 2012. Outside of business, Emily enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. When not in the Albany area, she prefers to be hiking and camping in the Adirondacks.
As Compliance & Communications Coordinator since joining Curran Wealth Management in 2022, Joseph works to ensure the firm is up to date on regulatory developments and requirements, with a focus on enhancing the firm’s operations and financial security. Joseph also leads the team's marketing and customer communications efforts.
Prior to joining Curran Wealth Management, Joseph spent 17 years in the financial industry, most recently with E*TRADE Financial where he was charged with establishing and implementing E*TRADE's first Independent Advisor Service Team. Joseph began his financial career with A.G. Edward’s & Sons in 1996 and later moved to JPMorgan Chase (Brown & Company) where he served as manager of an Elite Client Services Team consisting of 20 investment brokers and 20 customer service representatives charged with servicing Brown & Company’s 1000 highest revenue generating customers.
A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, Joseph’s financial industry career has seen him move from Albany, NY to Wilmington, DE, Philadelphia, PA, Tampa, FL, and finally back home to Albany where he lives with his wife and three dogs. Outside of work hours Joseph likes to read, explore the outdoors, spend time with his sons (and grandson), and collect pop-culture memorabilia.
As our Trader & Portfolio Administrator, Sean is responsible for trading operations, and maintaining client portfolios and transaction data. Sean is a General Securities Representative with a Series 7 License.
Sean also holds a Series 66 Uniform Combined State Law, Series 3 National Commodities Futures and Series 52 Municipal Securities Representative Licenses.
Prior to joining Curran in 2019, Sean was with The Ayco Company, LP, A Goldman Sachs Company, based in upstate New York where he began his career in financial services. During his 17 year tenure, he held various positions in Private Wealth Management developing a diverse skill set. He was an Associate in Goldman Sachs Investor Services and Ayco Fixed Income where he worked internally and with high net worth clients. He built an extensive knowledge of investing and trading equity, fixed income, equity/index options, mutual funds and foreign currencies.
Sean graduated from the University of Delaware in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, and received his Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the State University at Albany in 2010.
Mary Ann joined Curran in 2016. In her role as an Associate Research Analyst, Mary Ann supports the investment team with analysis including equity screening and reporting. She also generates performance data, maintains strategy composites and updates databases for external asset management screening.
In addition, Mary Ann assists in providing IT technical support.
Mary Ann is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Prior to joining the firm, Mary Ann provided financial and accounting services at a financial cooperative, specializing in tax return preparation. She has also designed hardware for large computer systems and developed software for computer design systems.
As Information Technology Manager, Janice is responsible for managing the firm’s information technology (IT) infrastructure and systems. She also manages operational matters and advises on regulatory issues and compliance.
She offers specialized expertise in management and communications through the initiation and execution of various projects. Janice began working for Curran Wealth Management in 2007 as an Information Technology and Project Management Consultant, supporting our team of professionals by providing business, advisory and technical assistance.
A graduate from the State University of New York at Albany, Janice has a Bachelor of Arts in English, with minors in Computer Science and Business Administration. Janice began her financial services career with First Albany Corporation where she was employed for fifteen years holding a number of respected positions including Supervisor of Treasury Management, Liaison of the Operations Division, Manager of Desktop Services and her latest position being Vice President of Project Management. At First Albany Corporation, Janice was responsible for coordinating corporate initiatives with vendors, analyzing business processes, making recommendations and implementing changes to streamline and automate day to day processes for employees.
Janice was born and raised in the Albany area where she currently resides with her husband.
As an Associate Private Wealth Manager since joining Curran Wealth Management in 2023, Eslyn primarily supports the Private Wealth Managers by managing client relationships with constant communication, data gathering to prepare for client meetings, opening new accounts, preparing transfers and other money movement transactions.
Eslyn is a graduate of Union College where he received his bachelor's in Economics. He is also a graduate of the University of West London where he received his Master's in Financial Risk Management. Prior to joining Curran, Eslyn worked at Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, and Scotiabank.
Outside of work Eslyn enjoys spending time outdoors, going on hikes with his dog, and traveling.
